Student Claims Florida Shooter ‘Showed Me’ His Guns, Boasted About Knowing School Layout

Amid reports of at least one death and 20 other people being injured at a South Florida high school, one former student claims the alleged shooter showed him “his gun on his phone.”

During an interview aired on WSVN, the unnamed ex-classmate of the alleged shooter said the following:

“He’s been a troubled kid and has always had a certain amount of issues going on. He shot guns because he felt it gave him I guess — what’s the word I’m looking for — an exhilarating feeling… He showed me [his guns] personally through his phone and stuff like that I stayed clear of him most of the time during my time in alternate school I didn’t wanna be with him at all because I didn’t wanna cause any conflict with him because that’s the impression he gave off.”

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced the shooting took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland near Boca Raton, Florida. In footage shot from the scene of the incident, students and administrators can be seen fleeing from the school on foot.

The former classmate of the student also noted the alleged shooter had “played around” with the idea of shooting up the school.

“He played around with a joke multiple times, you know, he knows the layout of the school. He can actually go ahead and pinpoint all where all the students would be,” the student said.

The shooter has not been officially identified by authorities.
