Former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher Dead At 87

 

Margaret Thatcher, who was prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990, has died following a stroke, her spokesman said. She was 87.

The “Iron Lady,” known for her toughness, was the first woman to hold the position. Thatcher “retired from public life after a stroke in 2002 and suffered several strokes after that.”

Her family is expected to make a statement later on.
