Freddie Gray’s Mother Comments on Baltimore Police Charges
Upon the announcement that Baltimore’s state attorney would press homicide charges against the six police officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray, his mother, Gloria Darden, said she was happy “because we got all six of them”.
“You can rest, Freddie,” she told BuzzFeed News. “You can rest. You can be in peace now.”
The 25-year-old Freddie Gray was arrested earlier this month and died while in police custody due to a severed spine, which an autopsy report says was the result of being repeatedly slammed around in the back of a police van driven recklessly, a practice commonly known as a “rough ride.” The news of his death sparked days of protests, some of which turned violent on Monday evening.
