George Pataki’s Also Running for President. So There’s That.
Patakimentum is real, folks. Former New York Governor George Pataki is running for president, because he is a Republican that people have heard of.
In his announcement video, posted online earlier, Pataki talks about protecting America’s freedom, taking care of its people, and even invokes the 9/11 attacks.
Now, obviously, one of Pataki’s problems is the whole “Wait, who?” factor. He doesn’t exactly have the same kind of support that other GOP candidates do. As National Journal put it, Pataki is currently polling at “–” (barely registering).
And to his credit, last year Pataki admitted that’s going to be an issue with him. “If I, as I expect, do choose to run, I think the fact that I have had this time away from government, away from politics, is a positive,” he said at the time. “It does make it harder to run––people don’t remember who I am––but we can remind them of it.”
