Gitmo Detainees Love 50 Shades Of Gray: ‘I Guess There’s Not Much Going On, So What The Hell’
During a tour of controversial prison Guantanamo Bay, officials revealed that the favorite book of high-level detainees is the erotic trilogy Fifty Shades of Gray.
“Rather than the Quran, the book that is requested most by the [high-value detainees] is Fifty Shades of Grey,” Democratic Representative Jim Moran said, according to the Huffington Post. “They’ve read the entire series in English, but we were willing to translate it.”
“I guess there’s not much going on, these guys are going nowhere, so what the hell,” said Moran—who, HuffPo points out, favors closing the facility.
The tour, which featured several lawmakers and the camp’s senior officials, came after months’ worth of graphic details of a prison-wide hunger strike, which started in response to the reported desecration of inmates’ Qurans—making this quite a convenient time for the prisoners to develop a taste in Twilight fan fiction.
