GOP Candidate Defends Harassment Charges: Shows She’ll ‘Fight with Conviction’
The GOP’s nominee for the Oregon Senate race responded to reports of previous harassment charges by saying they showed she “will fight for Oregonians with very strong conviction.”
During an Oregon City campaign event, Monica Wehby addressed reports that both an ex-husband and an ex-boyfriend had filed harassment charges against her, though she was not ultimately charged in either case.
“I think that the thing to learn from that is that I am a person who will stand up for what I believe in,” Wehby said. “I’m a person who doesn’t easily back down. I will fight for Oregonians with very strong conviction. I’m a very committed, determined person.”
Wehby stressed that both men support her campaign, while her opponent Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) pointed out that she had mostly avoided reporters since the charges became public three weeks ago.
