@GSElevator Gets New Book Deal Because Who Cares Anymore
Oy with this @GSElevator guy.
A couple weeks after losing his first book deal, John LeFevre, the author behind the no-longer-anonymous parody Twitter account @GSElevator, has a new book deal. Is there any way to express that through metaphor?
… And elevators also go back up…

Grove Atlantic announced Wednesday it had picked up Straight to Hell: True Tales of Deviance and Excess in the World of Investment Banking, a book that takes off from LeFrevre’s tweets of rapacious wisdom supposedly overheard in the hallways of Goldman Sachs.
(LeFevre never actually worked at the infamous investment bank. Goldman Sachs took the account seriously enough to launch an internal investigation into the author’s identity, but not, as some believed, to ban talking in the elevators.)
Simon & Schuster signed the deal with LeFevre in late January but backed out after the revelation of his identity in the New York Times led to some defensive posts from LeFevre (as well as an accusation of plagiarism).
Those don’t seem to bug Grove Atlantic. “John’s satirical voice captures the outrageous, excessive yet fascinating lives and culture of a certain segment of the international banking elite,’’ GA’s publisher said in a statement. “His work is amusing, disturbing and at times shocking.”
