Gunman And Three Women Found Dead After Hostage Standoff at California Veterans Home
A gunman and three hostages were found dead at a veterans home in Yountville, California, after an eight hour standoff on Friday, officials said.
The day-long tragedy began when an armed gunman entered a staff meeting at the the Yountville Veterans Home in Northern California, taking hostages, according to ABC affiliate KGO.
Around 6 p.m. PT, officers entered the room at the home where the gunman had been holding hostages, to find him and three women dead.
The gunman has been identified as 36-year-old Albert Wong of Sacramento, who was once a member of the veterans facility being treated for PTSD after returning from the Middle East.
The three female hostages that died are Executive Director Christine Loeber, a therapist Dr. Jen Golick, and VA psychologist Dr. Jennifer Gonzales.
Police first responded to reports of shots fired just after 10 a.m., after Wong entered the nation’s largest veterans care facility with a rifle.
President Donald Trump tweeted about the tragedy on Saturday morning:
