Harry Reid Challenges Trump to Take Naturalization Test: ‘He Would Almost Certainly Fail’

harry reidHouse Minority Leader Harry Reid ripped into Donald Trump‘s proposed “ideological test” for immigrants by demanding that he take America’s naturalization test to see just how well he does.

The Democratic Nevada senator sent out a press release on Monday, where he called Trump a “spoiled, unpatriotic drain on society who has earned nothing and helped no one.” Trump used a foreign policy speech today to announce his call for stricter naturalization tests, but Reid threw shade at The Donald by questioning whether he could even get through the one that already exists.

“Since Donald Trump wants to impose new tests on immigrants, he should take the one test every immigrant has to pass to become a United States citizen,” Reid said. “He would almost certainly fail, given his general ignorance and weak grasp of basic facts about American history, principles and functioning of our government.”

The current citizenship test requires migrants to answer questions on the Constitution, American laws, and national civics and history. Reid argued that Trump meets none of the standards immigrants show when passing the test, and said that controversies like his fight with the Khan family is proof Trump “represents none of the qualities that make America great”:

“Immigrants work hard to get here and become Americans, while Trump inherited everything from his father and works hardest at Tweeting insults and ripping off hard-working people with two-bit scams.

“Immigrants renounce all loyalty to foreign interests, while Trump plays footsie with Putin and invites the Russian government to launch cyberattacks against our country.”
