Here’s Why Terry Bradshaw Was Wearing a Stained Shirt During the Super Bowl Broadcast

Earlier, we posted about fans on Twitter being critical of the first half Super Bowl commercial offerings. If there was one first half spot that did catch people’s attention, though, it was a Tide commercial — only people didn’t immediately realize was a commercial.
Early in the second quarter, Fox NFL studio hosts Curt Menefee and Terry Bradshaw appeared on screen, ostensibly to promote the halftime show with Lady Gaga.
Everything appeared to be normal. Only, there was an impossible to miss red stain on Bradshaw’s shirt.
Viewers noticed it immediately:
So we’re all just gonna ignore the humongous ketchup stain on Terry Bradshaw’s shirt?

Terry Bradshaw what is on your shirt?

Only, unbeknownst to viewers at the time, the stain was there to set up a commercial. Two breaks later, Bradshaw was “alerted” to his stain, and the bit was on. Bradshaw left the stadium and ended up at actor Jeffrey Tambor‘s house — where Bradshaw was able to toss his shirt into the laundry.
So, mystery solved. But for about 10 minutes, people truly did think Terry Bradshaw went on the air with a stained shirt for no reason.
