Hillary Clinton Touts Experience Killing Terrorists at Press Conference on Recent Attacks

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took to the podium once more Monday morning for a press conference on the nonlethal but serious terrorist attacks that took place over the weekend, and while Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has relied on tough talk, Secretary Clinton took the opportunity to remind reporters of the actual experience she has in carrying out operations against terrorists.

After once again making the point that others have reported terrorists rooting for a Trump victory, Secretary Clinton delivered a reminder that could be summed up into a campaign bumper sticker with the phrase “I know how to do this”:

I’m the only candidate in this race who has been part of the hard decisions to take terrorists off the battlefield. What does that mean? I was part of the national security team that worked with President Obama, developed strategies to fight the terrorists. Sometimes that involved direct kinetic action, sometimes that involved working with allies and partners, sometimes that involved capture. I won’t get into classified information, but I have sat at that table in the Situation Room, I have analyzed the threats, I have contributed to actions that have neutralized our enemies. I know how to do this, and I understand how we don’t want this to get even bigger than it already is.

Hillary’s assurance came in response to an unusual question, which was whether the attacks over the weekend were staged in order to give Donald Trump an advantage in the election, a premise about which she refused to speculate, but did again assert that Trump’s rhetoric gives “aid and comfort” to the enemy:

Secretary Clinton’s citation of her experience fighting terrorism, then, appears to be a challenge to the idea that a terrorist attack naturally favors Donald Trump, an assumption that the media is all too happy to make.
