It Turns Out Even the Pope Leaves Voicemails Too…
Many people view Pope Francis as a very humble, “man-of-the-people” pontiff, and he’s proven it once again by doing what the rest of us are wont to do from time to time: leaving voicemails. And when His Holiness tried calling a convent of nuns, they were out so he left a cheeky message for them.
The pope called the Carmelite nuns of Lucena on New Year’s Eve to send his good wishes, and when he was unable to reach them, this is what he left on the voicemail:
“What are the nuns doing that they can’t answer [the phone]? I am Pope Francis, I wish to greet you in this end of the year, I will see if I can call you later. May God bless you!”
Needless to say, when the nuns heard the voicemail, they were stunned. They tried calling back, but it’s not as if it’s easy to speak to the pope himself, so they simply waited until he called them back.
