Jets QB Geno Smith’s Jaw Broken After Being Sucker-Punched by Teammate
In a shocking development only two days before their first preseason game, New York Jets starting quarterback Geno Smith had broken his jaw after being sucker-punched by a teammate.
Smith was apparently involved in a locker room argument with Jets linebacker IK Enemkpali over what coach Todd Bowles characterized as “something very childish that 6th graders could have talked about.” Enemkpali escalated to violence after Smith pointed his finger in his face.
Enemkpali has been released by the Jets. Smith’s injuries are bad enough that he is expected to miss 6 to 10 games, but he posted a picture on Instagram vowing “I’LL BE BACK!”
