Jon Stewart Mocks Rick Sanchez At Comedy Central Fundraiser
Rick Sanchez may be out of a job, but he’s still playing a starring role as the butt of the joke. Gossip Cop reports that at a New York fundraiser last night Jon Stewart, whom Sanchez infamously called a “bigot” last week, took a swipe at the now-fired CNN anchor.
Stewart, who was doing hosting duties at Comedy Central’s “Night Of Too Many Stars” event to benefit autism education programs, mocked Sanchez’s controversial remarks about Jews:
Stewart advised the crowd at the Beacon Theatre that if they felt guilty, for example, having dented a friend’s car, they should give the autism fundraiser $50. And if they felt guilty for cheating in some manner, donating $500 to the benefit would make them feel better.
“If you went on the radio and said the Jews control the media,” said Stewart in a pointed jab at Sanchez, “In that case… you may want to hold on to your money,”
Later in the evening David Letterman made a surprise guest appearance and had a few choice words of his own for Sanchez. Presumably this is all just a preview of what is to come once Letterman and Stewart return to air on Monday. You can read the full story at Gossip Cop.
