Judd Apatow Vows to See The Interview — If Any Theaters Show It

Filmmaker Judd Apatow is vowing to see The Interview, despite and in spite of threats from the group Guardians of Peace, which is sympathetic to North Korea and hellbent on spiking the new Seth Rogen/James Franco film making light of Kim Jong-un:

But Apatow may not have a theater to see it in. Carmike Theaters is considering pulling the film from its 278 theaters after threats of a “9/11-style attack,” while Landmark Theaters canceled its Thursday evening premiere in New York City. The cancellations follow weeks of fallout from the Guardians of Peace’s hacking of Sony Studios, which has reveled a trove of embarrassing information.

The DHS said it had no credible evidence of a terrorist threat against theaters. Still Sony is being cautious, and Rogen and Franco have canceled their press appearances ahead of the film’s Christmas release.

If Apatow can’t see it in theaters, he has a backup, retweeting one person’s suggestion that “SONY should just put it online for free as a fitting fuck-you to terrorism/censorship.”
