Liberal Blogger Hired to Defend Redskins Name Quits Two Weeks In
A progressive blogger hired two weeks ago to defend by the Washington Football Team to defend the name against a growing number of detractors quit Monday evening.
Activist Ben Tribbett resigned in a series of tweets, which is how we do nowadays:
Obv. this issue with Redskins is one where I don’t see eye to eye with some friends. I just don't agree with the attacks on the team name.
— Ben Tribbett (@notlarrysabato) July 8, 2014
I don’t want to be a distraction to the team as the political attacks have shifted towards being personal towards me.
— Ben Tribbett (@notlarrysabato) July 8, 2014
So I’m going to send in my resignation to the Redskins. Hopefully that allows debate to move back to where it should be.

As one writer pointed out, Tribett’s involvement on the side of the Redskins was especially strange given his role in exposing then-Senatorial candidate George Allen’s use of the term “macaca,” a racial epithet that damaged Allen’s political career. Allen’s brother Bruce is the Redskins’ general manager.
Nonetheless, Tribett’s a team man to the bitter end, which usually is 7-9.
PS- Hail to the Redskins!
