LOL: Toronto City Council Turns Their Backs on Rob Ford When He Rises to Speak

While us Americans were all busy watching President Obama‘s remarks on the Affordable Care Act, the Toronto City Council was in the midst of a full-on meltdown, with many of its lawmakers turning their backs to Mayor Rob Ford when he rose to speak today.

The council voted Wednesday afternoon in favor of a non-binding motion asking the beleaguered mayor to resign following a slew of controversies surrounding his illicit drug consumption, frequent alcohol use, and alleged verbal harassment of staffers.

In keeping with his reputation, Ford showed up to the council meeting Thursday afternoon wearing a Toronto Argonauts football uniform. Toronto Star reporter Robyn Doolittle captured the moment the mayor arose and a large portion of his legislators swiveled their chairs around to face away from him:

Yep, that’s Ford in the background, donning the #12 Argos uniform.
