Louis C.K. Will Write, Direct, and Star in Movie Titled I’m a Cop

Comedian Louis C.K. is set to write, direct and star in an independent film called I’m a Cop. The movie will be produced by Scott Rudin, who recently helped bring Chris Rock’s Top Five to the screen.

The script, according to The Hollywood Reporter, “tells of a depressed middle-aged man who is a volunteer police officer living in the shadow of his mother, a highly decorated retired officer. When she dies, her continued influence forces him to become a real police officer, which is something he never wanted to be.”

I’m a Cop will be Louis C.K.’s first proper foray into movie directing since the 2001 Chris Rock vehicle Pootie Tang, which Paramount barred him from working on during post-production because of creative differences and subsequently flopped in theaters. Since then, he has written, directed, edited and starred in every episode for five season of the critically-acclaimed Louie show on FX.

And it won’t be the first time the comedian has portrayed a police officer on screen. He had a recurring role as a Pawnee, Indiana cop on Parks and Recreation and in his role on Louie, played himself playing a cop in a fictional movie opposite Matthew Broderick.
