Maher: With Trump’s Lies, the Media ‘Acts Like Reality Show Producers’
Tonight on Real Time with Bill Maher, Bill Maher spent some time addressing how Donald Trump gets away with telling such boldfaced lies. Ana Navarro was on hand to agree and point out that the American people have demonstrated all election season that they’re looking for authenticity, which they’ve found in Bernie Sanders. Killer Mike was there, too, and seeing him and Navarro backing each other up leant itself to her claims that authenticity will unite all kinds of voters.
Maher, who has publicly supported Sanders and tears into the GOP for being dishonest regularly, pointed out that the dishonesty of Trump just follows a precedent set by the media.
“As much as I hate the politicians, every week when I watch TV, I hate the media more,” he said. “It really is a reality show in the sense that the media acts like reality show producers.”
“The media does not care about the truth in this election,” he said. “All they care is about the storyline.”
Watch the clip above to see Maher bite the hand that feeds in a way that still seems to really resonate with his audience.
