Mayoral Candidate Collapses During Televised Debate
Philadelphia Mayoral candidate Lynne Abraham collapsed during a televised debate Tuesday night.
The former district attorney was listening to another candidate answer a question when she suddenly lost consciousness. “I was on a riser,” Abraham said later, per NBC Philadelphia. “I leaned over to look at Tony and the lights went out…I believe I just had a sudden drop in blood pressure.”
Abraham was examined by a doctor and declared to be fine, though she missed the rest of the debate. “It just happened at an inopportune time,” she said. “It’s a little bit embarrassing but I fell gracefully. I didn’t hurt anything. I’m fine.”
Abraham sounded in high spirits during her later press conference — perhaps helped by the fact that she got good ratings from the debate — and tweeted out the following:
