Meghan McCain: ‘It’s Hard for Me to Watch’ Palin Endorse Trump

Screen Shot 2016-01-20 at 12.04.56 PMToday, Meghan McCain appeared on Varney & Co. to talk to Stuart Varney about the presidential race. McCain is somewhat of an expert on the process because she worked on her own father’s 2008 presidential bid for two years. In fact, that’s why she seemed so on edge today: Sarah Palin, the infamous former running mate of John McCain, endorsed GOP frontrunner Donald Trump last night.

The endorsement came as a surprise not only because Palin had formerly expressed support for Ted Cruz, but because Trump had previously insulted McCain’s father. There have been plenty of media reactions focusing on the dynamic between the older McCain and Palin, but the most anticipated reaction by far was that of Meghan herself.

“It is hard for me to watch her endorse Donald Trump after what Donald Trump said about my father’s service. Just on a personal level, it’s hard for me to differentiate personal and politics in a situation like this.”

McCain went on to say that she hasn’t spoken to Palin since her father’s campaign failed, but she sees this latest endorsement as a form of pandering. Overall, the political commenter and radio host seemed unimpressed.
