Michael Avenatti Calls Into The View to Detail New Kavanaugh Charge: It’s ‘Shocking,’ And it is True
Michael Avenatti phoned in to The View shortly after he revealed the identity of his client, Julie Swetnick, the latest to accuse Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.
He began by saying he was “looking forward” to anyone who will attempt to ” challenge the credibility” of his client, noting she has had multiple security clearances while working for the federal government.
When asked by Abby Huntsman why Swetnick wanted to come forward now, Avenatti responded by saying she believes “the truth should be known” and she wants the public to “know the truth.”
Sunny Hostin then listed the allegations Swetnick made in her sworn testimony about Kavanaugh’s drunken conduct at house parties.
“Did he do anything to this particular woman, Julie Swetnick?” Hostin asked. “Or is she just alleging that she has seen be aggressive with other women?”
Avenatti pointed to Swetnick’s declaration, saying her allegations are “far more specific” relating to Kavanaugh’s conduct.
“The details are specific. They are shocking. But above all else, they are true,” Avenatti said. “And my client stands behind them 100 percent.”
He expressed hopes that the FBI will conduct an investigation into Swetnick’s allegation, saying there should be “no rush” in confirming Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and delaying it by “a week, a month, or slightly over a month,” would be of no consequence. He also demanded that Mark Judge should testify under oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.
