Michael Moore: ‘Donald Trump is Gonna Get Us Killed’
It wasn’t long ago that Michael Moore correctly predicted a Donald Trump presidency. Now, he’s making predictions for while Trump is in office, and they’re not pretty. Moore posted a piece on Facebook last night called “Donald Trump is Gonna Get us Killed,” and details how, by choosing not to listen to intelligence briefings, he’s going to do that.
“Most would agree the #1 job of the leader of any country is to keep its people safe,” Moore says. “There is no more important meeting every day for the President than the one where he learns what the day’s potential threats are to the country.” It “simply boggles the mind,” he argues, that Trump wouldn’t take these meetings more seriously.
Then, he brought up George W. Bush and 9/11. “On August 6, 2001, he was on a month-long vacation at his ranch in Texas. That morning, the White House Counsel handed him his daily national security briefing. He glanced at it, set it aside and then went fishing for the rest of the day.” The briefing said that Osama bin Laden planned to attack the United States, and that he planned to do it with planes. Five weeks later, the attacks happened.
If Trump, who once criticized President Barack Obama for skipping briefings, spent more time listening to them and less time “tweeting and defending Putin and appointing cabinet members to dismantle the government,” Moore says, the next attack might be prevented.
And, he concludes, Americans will not forget. “We will remember that while the plot to kill Americans was being hatched, your time was consumed by whom you saw as the real threat to America: Alec Baldwin in a wig.”
