Mitch McConnell: Obstruction from Democrats ‘Has Reached New Extreme Levels’
Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell today went off on the Senate floor against Democrats for what he deemed “extreme” obstruction on their part.
He pointed to the positive words people like Alan Dershowitz and Rachel Maddow have had for Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch to argue that Democrats are trying to come up with all sorts of excuses to hold up the confirmation process.
“It’s time to finally accept the results of the election,” he said, “and move on.”
McConnell accused Democrats of engaging in “obstruction” that has “reached new extreme levels,” given how many Trump nominees have been confirmed up to this point compared to the speed of administrations past.
McConnell, of course, has been accused of hypocrisy on this position given the flap over Merrick Garland last year. This has been his response:
We all know that the empty #SCOTUS seat would not have been filled in the middle of a presidential election year no matter who was President pic.twitter.com/ONLT94pPPv
