During the crazy 11 days in which Anthony Scaramucci was the de facto White House Communications Director, comic Mario Cantone rose to prominence by lampooning the Mooch with a solid, if not spot-on impersonation.
With Scaramucci guest co-hosting The View on Friday, Cantone was afforded the opportunity to trot out the character one more time and sit side-by-side with the man he termed his “doppelgänger.”
“Look at this guy! He’s my doppelgänger!” Cantone exclaimed in his surprise appearance. He added, “Thanks for having me the whole hour, Joy. I really appreciate it. I’m not used to sticking around in any one place unless there’s three hors d’oeuvres and a two-drink minimum.”
Scaramucci wanted Cantone to break character, as he asked a semi-serious question of the comic.
“How bummed were you when I was fired?” Scaramucci said. “You were on your way. And then you got shot like a little bird and hit the water. You had to be bummed.”
“You’re lucky you’re here,” Cantone replied, staying in character. “You got nothing. Spicer got the EMMYs. You’re sitting here with four bleeding heart chiacchierones.”
The panel laughed.
“What’s a chiacchierone?” View panleist Sara Haines asked.
“It’s a hen,” colleague Joy Behar explained.
