Nancy Pelosi Rebukes Maxine Waters For ‘Unacceptable’ Comments: We Must ‘Make America Beautiful Again’

On Twitter on Monday, minority leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rebuked the controversial comments from Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) calling for supporters to harass Trump administration officials.

“In the crucial months ahead, we must strive to make America beautiful again,” Pelosi wrote, invoking President Donald Trump‘s famous slogan. “Trump’s daily lack of civility has provoked responses that are predictable but unacceptable. As we go forward, we must conduct elections in a way that achieves unity from sea to shining sea.”

The link in Pelosi’s tweet is to a CNN story about Waters comments. CNN took Rep. Waters to task this morning over her commentary, which included her statement that she has “no sympathy for these people that are in this administration.”

Rep. Pelosi’s rebuke is the first such public criticism of Waters’ comments from a Democrat lawmaker.
