New York Observer Editor Tries to Justify Paper’s Endorsement of Trump

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 12.17.33 PMNew York Observer editor Ken Kurson began his tepid defense of his paper’s endorsement of Donald Trump by thanking CNN host Kate Bolduan for “molesting the words” of the editorial. It got worse from there.

Kurson insisted that the endorsement was based on the merits of Trump’s platform, not on the fact that Kushner not only both the paper’s publisher and sits on its editorial board.

“This was a pretty clear choice for us,” he said.

Mediaite’s Jon Nicosia wrote that the Observer‘s effort to downplay the fact that Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner owns the paper displayed “a level of disingenuousness for the ages,” and marked a sad day for “the journalists who work there, and even journalism as a whole.”
