Newsweek Criticized Over Misleading Tweet About Melania Trump: ‘Pathetic’
On Tuesday, Newsweek was slammed for a tweet that has been called “grossly misleading” regarding First Lady Melania Trump.
According to a CNN report, the First Lady ordered the removal of the historic Jackson Magnolia, a tree that’s been on the White House grounds since the 1800s, after it was determined by tree experts that the “overall architecture and structure of the tree is greatly compromised and the tree is completely dependent on the artificial support” and was also considered a safety hazard. Trump had also requested that the wood from the tree be preserved.
However, Newsweek‘s tweet about it suggests that Trump was removing the historic tree from the White House… just because.

Many on Twitter condemned Newsweek‘s “bad tweet,” including White House official Dan Scavino:
Another BS Newsweek tweet. Your story reflects the truth, that this decision was made after consulting with experts. With 280 characters there’s no excuse for this…. https://t.co/F60Dhf64yj

This is a bad tweet.
The tree is badly decayed and in danger of collapsing. Even the @NatArboretum advised Melania to have it removed.
