Obama Digs in at ‘Gloomy’ Republicans: ‘They’re Like Grumpy Cat’

At the Women’s Leadership Forum today, President Obama told observers that Republicans are “gloomy” and compared his political rivals to a popular internet meme.

“Why is it that Republican politicians are so down on America?” Obama asked. “I mean, they are gloomy. They are like Grumpy Cat” he said, scrunching his face into his best impression of the irritable feline. “Everything is terrible according to them,” he added.

It’s not the first time the Obamas have referenced the popular internet meme. In May, Michelle Obama told David Letterman that the first couple has a daughter “we call our Grumpy Cat. Our salty biscuit.” She declined to say whether she was referring to Sasha or Malia.
