Obama On Janet Reno’s Passing: She ‘Was Tough as Nails’ and an ‘American Original’
Earlier today, news came in that the first woman to serve as US Attorney General, Janet Reno, had passed away at the age of 78. She had been battling Parkinson’s Disease for some time. Reno served as AG from 1993 to 2001 and was nominated by President Bill Clinton.
In response to her passing, President Barack Obama released the following statement on Reno:

California’s AG Kamala Harris, who is running for Senate, mentioned that Reno broke the glass ceiling.
