Piers Morgan Unleashes Tweetstorm Blasting Media Reluctance to Show POV Killing Videos
In the wake of the on-air murders of Alison Parker and Adam Ward, news agencies everywhere had to decide whether to show the horrific POV footage taken by Vester Flanagan during the act.
Never one to shy away from a chance to talk gun control, Piers Morgan unleashed a Twitter tirade today. After offering his sympathies, Morgan blasted American news agencies for their hesitance to show a widely circulated screenshot from Flanagan’s second video, where he actually aimed his gun before slaying the journalists.
Morgan’s rant was extensive, but the bulk of his tweets described his frustration with America for not doing enough for gun control. Morgan also suggested that more might have been done if more provocative shooting photos had been released, referencing the Sandy Hook Massacre in 2012:
This is so DISGUSTING.
Enough, America.
For God's sake, do something about guns.

No, America, don't shirk from posting this image.
It sums up your appalling, senseless gun culture.
DO something. pic.twitter.com/HegKEZ2vd1

America does NOTHING about these incessant, horrific shootings.
Absolutely nothing.
It's a disgrace.
Why don't enough Americans care?

20 schoolchildren were shot dead in their classrooms and America did nothing.
Perhaps if we'd seen THOSE images, it might have.

To understand the true menace of America's gun nut culture, read the replies to my tweets. Dangerous, abusive, heavily armed whack-jobs.

Some of the responses that Morgan was referring to came from a mix of commenters and journalists wondering whether guns control was the end-all solution to the entire issue. After noticing several comments about his use of the photo and his effect on the gun debate, Morgan didn’t hold back:
Steve, England has bad people.
We have 32 gun deaths a year.
You have 80 a day.
Do the math. https://t.co/bF6v2MvsHz

No, it's the right decision.
Images can affect change.
America's senseless gun violence is out of control. https://t.co/8VdcLoJxHy

Really? What have YOU done, Ms Cupp? Other than turn a blind eye to endless gun deaths? https://t.co/otYAkBdi8i
