Prominent #NeverTrump GOP Senator Ben Sasse Spent the Weekend Moonlighting as an Uber Driver
Nebraska republican Senator — and leading #NeverTrump figure — Ben Sasse spent the weekend after Donald Trump‘s election moonlighting as an Uber driver and a stadium sandwich vendor.
Sasse retweeted a tweet from a University of Nebraska student named Adrian Silva saying that he’d been picked up by the Senator:

Politico writer Jake Sherman then tweeted to Sasse “this can’t be real…is it?” The Senator then confirmed:

Sasse chronicled his unusual weekend jobs on his Twitter feed, noting that some of his Uber passengers were a bit inebriated.
Well, for starters, it’s pushing midnight on a Saturday (and some of my Uber riders today were three sheets to the wind by 4pm…) https://t.co/fuK5styJia

On Saturday night, the Senator worked the stands at the University of Nebraska vs. Minnesota football game selling a popular local sandwich called a Runza.

Sasse explained that he took on these jobs by saying “I like to work alongside and for Nebraskans.” By law, he cannot keep any of the money he earned. He says he plans to donate it to charity.
But the good news for the Senator is that he did go out with a five-star Uber rating, giving him options if his re-election bid in 2020 doesn’t go to plan.
