Roland Martin Confronts Civil Rights Lunch Counter Activist Who Supports Trump

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump‘s struggle to attract black voters has been well-documented, but he has managed to attract the support of at least one iconic Civil Rights-era activist. Clarence Henderson, who appeared in the famous 1960 photo of the Woolworth’s lunch counter sit-in in Greensboro, North Carolina, is now a conservative who supports Donald Trump because he believes Trump’s business acumen is what the country needs.

On Wednesday’s edition of NewsOne Now, anchor Roland Martin interviewed Henderson, and challenged him to explain what Trump’s plan is for underemployment among black youths, and Henderson told him that Trump has a plan that he just hasn’t revealed yet. Henderson then attacked Obamacare, and Roland called him out:

Clarence Henderson: Removing some of the regulations that we have that keep people from getting jobs, and puts pressure on businesses whereby they can’t grow as they should because of regulations such as Obamacare, which is one of the biggest legalized frauds perpetrated on mankind.

Roland Martin: Clarence, you said you’re a civil rights activist. You do know that Dr. King was a huge proponent of the issue of federal health care, and African-Americans have greatly benefited when it comes to the Affordable Care Act.

Henderson has also spoken out against the transgender rights movement being compared to the Civil Rights movement.
