Russia Probe Now Expands to Trump Aide and Bodyguard Keith Schiller
On Thursday news emerged that Keith Schiller, one of President Trump’s closest aides, would face questioning over the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, ABC and others reported.
“Keith Schiller is now on the list of witnesses that House Intelligence Committee investigators want to talk to as part of their probe into possible ties between team Trump and the Russians,” Cecilia Vega reported on Good Morning America. Schiller declined requests from ABC for comment but Vega reported that “sources close to the investigation” said “people on that witness list have been notified.”
Schiller is one of Donald Trump’s closest confidants. The former NYPD officer previously served as the real estate magnate’s personal bodyguard and has had a personal relationship with Trump for 20 years. Today he maintains a White House office, just next to the Oval Office.
Known to be fiercely loyal — never a bad attribute in Trumpland — Schiller was a ubiquitous presence on the campaign trail, where he protected the candidate from protestors at his rallies, and escorted Jorge Ramos out of a press conference when he became too combative for Trump’s liking.
When the president made the call to fire James Comey, he gave Schiller the task to personally deliver the letter of dismissal to the FBI director.
The expansion of the Republican-led House probe suggests the president’s Russia woes will not be abating any time soon.
