Santorum Campaign on Fox Debate Snub: ‘Incredibly Flawed’ Process, ‘Preposterous’

It didn’t take long for one of the GOP candidates who didn’t make it into the big Fox News primetime debate on Thursday to react. Rick Santorum‘s campaign has already reacted with a statement critical of the whole process and the Republican National Committee in particular for being in the business of “picking winners and losers.”

A Santorum spokesman provided the following statement to Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel:

Santorum did not make the top ten, but he will participate in the earlier candidate forum with six other low-polling candidates.

Back in May, Santorum objected to what he considered “arbitrary” debate limits by Fox, saying, “If you’re a United States senator, if you’re a governor, if you’re a woman who ran a Fortune 500 company, and you’re running a legitimate campaign for president, then you should have a right to be on stage with everybody else.”

Weeks later Chris Wallace (one of the moderators) confronted Santorum and suggested he just work to improve his numbers.
