SC Sheriff Takes Stand Against Honoring Mandela: ‘He Was Not an American!’
Flags are being flown at half-mast all over not just the United States, but the world, in mourning of the death of Nelson Mandela. But there’s one South Carolina sheriff who took a rather bold stand against honoring one of the most honored and respected men of all time, saying he will not follow an order from President Obama to keep all flags lowered to half-mast until sunset on Monday.
Pickens County Sheriff Rick Clark posted his musings about Mandela on Facebook, saying he was a good man who should be honored, but “he was not an American” and therefore doesn’t deserve the honor.

And, interestingly enough, a lot of the comments were positive.
