Shocking Video Shows Bystander Catch Baby Dropped from Flaming Building in Texas

Shocking video shows a bystander catching a baby dropped from a burning building in Texas.

One day before Thanksgiving, flames broke out in a multi-story residential building in Northeast Dallas. In one of the apartments, a mother, father and a one-year-old were trapped inside.

So, the dad punched open a window and their little girl was dropped into the arms of a stranger below.

“It was terrifying,” mom Shuntara Thomas told WFAA. “I didn’t know if I was going to come down with her or if that would be the last time that I was holding my child.”

Below, Byron Campbell tried to convince Thomas to let her baby go.

“I just told the mom I wouldn’t drop the baby. Then she let go and I caught it. I held on like a football and didn’t let go,” Campbell said.

In a video interview, Campbell called it “crazy stuff.”

The baby’s mother also fled the building by jumping from the third floor on to a mattress and escaped with only bumps and bruises.

The baby’s father, Patrick, also survived but had over 20 stitches.

More than 40 people were left without a home because of the fire.
