Tapper Smacks Down Fox Contributor For Complaining He Labeled Angus King an Independent

For some reason, Fox Business contributor Gary Kaltbaum thought it would be a good idea to accuse CNN’s Jake Tapper of media bias on Sunday over Tapper’s State of the Union interview with Sen. Angus King (I-ME). So, what was Kaltbaum’s beef? Well, here’s the tweet:
Jake Tapper introduces this man Angus King. as an independent. And they wonder why we trust them as far as we can throw them. #MediaBias pic.twitter.com/pMio25JUou

Yep, the political commentator thought it was outrageous that Tapper had the temerity to label an independent senator as an…independent. Oof.
The CNN anchor wasn’t about to let that slide and highlighted that not only was it correct to refer to King as an independent, but that Fox News had done the same thing in the past.
I called @SenAngusKing an independent because he's an independent. He ran against Democrats and Republicans and won in '94 and '98 for governor, and in 2012 for Senate. He caucuses with the Democrats but he's an independent. https://t.co/c4NuGeQMg9 https://t.co/ewicKqYwDv

Here's Fox News introducing and identifying @SenAngusKing the exact same way, as an independent, which he is.
Gary's tweet is just one example of the sheer nonsense that marks too much discourse these days.https://t.co/0ZwRIuyUGY https://t.co/ewicKqYwDv

It wasn’t just Tapper giving Kaltbaum grief. One need only look at The Ratio of the Fox contributor’s tweet to see how the rest of the Twittersphere reacted to Kaltbaum’s observation.
Meanwhile, Kaltbaum defended his initial tweet, stating King can “call himself what he wants but he votes Democrat.”
To all, agree or disagree, respectfully, just because someone calls themselves IND does not mean they are. Bernie Sanders calls himself IND but is farthest left. Angus King can call himself what he wants but he votes Democrat. Thanks for all the feedback. Have a great day!

Maybe you should stop tweeting for a while, Gary. Maybe sit the next couple plays out.
