The Rock and Misty Copeland Join Steph Curry in Criticizing Under Armor CEO For Trump Comments
Yesterday, basketball sensation Steph Curry made it clear he’s no fan of Donald Trump after the CEO of sportswear company Under Armour, which he reps, praised the president in comments to CNBC. Other athletes have now been joining him.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wrote a lengthy Facebook post addressing UA CEO Kevin Plank for the kind words about Trump. He wrote that the company, which he also is sponsored by, has inadvertently created “a situation where the personal political opinions of Under Armour’s partners and its employees were overshadowed by the comments of its CEO.”
Ballerina Misty Copeland, who was the first woman of color to to be a principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre, was also quick to state that she appreciates the brand she is sponsored by but absolutely does not agree with Plank.
By the end of the day, more athletes may still come out against the CEO’s position, which is that Trump is “an asset.”
