The View Is Outraged That Pence Sat For Korea at Olympics: ‘You Need to Stand Up’

The View took on Vice President Mike Pence, Monday, for remaining seated as athletes from North and South Korea marched into the stadium during the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics.

Sunny Hostin led off by making reference to Pence leaving an NFL game in October after several players took a knee during the National Anthem.

“I thought that Mike Pence said that it was inappropriate to make political statements at sporting events,” she said. “Wasn’t he that guy who walked out of the football game because people were kneeling and not standing?”

Whoopi Goldberg concurred.

“If you’re in Korea, you need to stand up,” she said. “You need to stand up and show respect.”

The panel was largely in agreement on the issue. Meghan McCain was the lone dissenter.

“I don’t think I would have stood either,” McCain said. “I have such a problem with what’s going on in North Korea. People are literally being starved into forced labor.”
