This Video of a Cruise Ship Buzzing Someone’s House Will Literally Make You Crap Your Pants
A couple in Florida got an unnerving surprise recently when they found a large cruise-liner that came way too close to their waterfront house.
Bill and Yasmine Todhunter told news outlets that they are used to seeing ships pass by their house in Fort Lauderdale. Nonetheless, Mrs. Todhunter took a video of her husband, alarmed to see a 122,000-ton Celebrity Equinox cruise ship approximately 100 feet away from their patio.
“This is too close. No. Don’t cross. Get out,” Todhunter frantically yelled as her husband tried to wave down the boat.
The footage showed the boat while it was using its reverse engines to change course before it hit the protective sea wall. Celebrity Equinox’s parent company, Royal Caribbean, released a statement about the incident, saying the boat stayed in its assigned channel, that it did not put anyone in immediate danger, and that it did not run aground in Todhunter’s video.
“They say it was within a channel and nobody was at risk and it never touched bottom and I don’t believe that statement at all,” Bill Todhunter said in response. “As you can see by the videos, obviously it was outside the channel and it looked like to me that it touched bottom, definitely.”
