Throwback Thursday: Greta Van Susteren Breaks Down OJ Simpson Murder Case on CNN

In light of the recent network shake-ups, we’ve already looked at the early career highlights of Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson. Since she is a major anchor who has recently returned to the news game, it follows that we should take a look at Greta Van Susteren‘s early career.

Van Susteren has the fairly unique position of being one of the few media personalities who has been on all three major cable news networks. Before she hosted For the Record on MSNBC, Van Susteren had a show on Fox, and before that, she was a legal analyst and co-host on CNN.

During the 90’s, Van Susteren rose to prominence when she covered the OJ Simpson murder case. In this clip from 1994, Van Susteren examined the defense’s argument during preliminary hearings, and whether the prosecution’s evidence would be admissible in court.

The issue, Van Susteren explained, was that the prosecution wanted to bring findings into the case which might have been “unconstitutionally seized” by police officers who didn’t have a warrant. She explained that prosecution had to make the case that the cops were reacting to an “emergency situation” when they found the glove covered in the blood of Simpson, Nicole Brown, and Ron Goldman.

Throwback Thursday is the new Mediaite project dedicated to exploring the careers and past highlights of news figures before they became major media stars.
