Trump on Stalled Legislative Agenda: ‘I Am Not Going to Blame Myself’
Prior to a closed-door meeting with his cabinet on Monday, President Donald Trump spoke briefly with the White House press pool. Among the topics he touched on was the failure of Congress to pass any major legislation — namely as it relates to health care.
You’re never going to believe this, but the President says it’s not his fault.
“[W]e are not getting the job done,” Trump said. He quickly added, “I’m not going to blame myself, I’ll be honest. They are not getting the job done.”
Trump went on to point the finger at a few members of his own party for dropping the ball on health care.
“There are Republicans, frankly, that should be ashamed of themselves,” Trump said. “But most of them, I’ll tell you what, I know the Republican senators, most of them are really, really great people that want to work hard and want to do a great thing for the American public. But you had a few people that disappointed us. They really, really disappointed us.”
