Trump Once Mused About a Season of The Apprentice Pitting Whites Against Blacks (UPDATED)
Donald Trump once publicly mused about doing what at least one other reality show has done: pitting different races against each other.
BuzzFeed uncovered old comments from Trump when, back in 2005, he said on his radio show (yes, Donald Trump once had a radio show) he’s been thinking over a “fairly controversial” idea:
“Creating a team of successful African-Americans versus a team of successful whites. Whether people like that idea or not, it is somewhat reflective of our very vicious world.”
One former Apprentice contestant said last month he witnessed “racial insensitivity” from Trump on the show.
Trump did acknowledge at the time that the idea of whites vs. blacks was probably not the best idea, and it never did happen.
A Page Six item from around that time features Trump telling The Post, “This idea was suggested by numerous people. But I personally don’t like it,so it will never happen.”
UPDATE 11:25 A.M. EST Buzzfeed found audio of Trump discussing the idea with Howard Stern, who asked detailed questions about how a segregated competition would work.
