Trump Reportedly Frustrated With Hope Hicks and Raj Shah Amid Rob Porter Scandal
The White House has been dealing with a full-blown scandal the past few days over the abuse allegations against ex-staffer Rob Porter and the way the administration has handled the situation. And it appears that President Donald Trump is frustrated with a whole range of folks in the White House over this whole thing.
It has already been reported that Trump is “f*cking pissed” at White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and has been calling others — including former chief of staff Reince Priebus — to gripe about Kelly and seek advice on whether the retired Marine general should be replaced. And according to other reporting, Kelly’s not the only one in the line of fire.
Per CNN, Trump is frustrated with White House communications director Hope Hicks in the wake of this controversy. Hicks, who is currently dating Porter, was involved in crafting the original White House statement in response to reports of Porter’s abuse. That statement included high praise for the now-former staff secretary from Kelly and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Meanwhile, Trump is also unhappy with deputy press secretary Raj Shah’s performance covering for Sanders at the White House press briefing on Thursday. While Shah appeared to professionally and deftly handle the reporters’ barrage of questions over the Porter scandal, Trump reportedly didn’t like that Shah said that “it’s fair to say we all could have done better dealing with this over the last few days.”
Yep. Even though the president appears to be irate over the handling of this controversy that has roiled the White House, he is also mad that Shah had the audacity to acknowledge that it could have been dealt with better.
