Trump Swipes at Michelle Wolf, Praises WHCA for Not Picking Comedian for Dinner: ‘Maybe I Will Go?’

President Donald Trump tonight praised the White House Correspondents’ Association for its decision to choose author and historian Ron Chernow for the annual White House Correspondents Dinner instead of another comedian.
The move came as a surprise, and garnered criticism for the assumption they’re going with a safer choice following the outraged reactions to Wolf’s speech at the dinner. Wolf herself called the WHCA “cowards” for the move.
Trump tonight said the WHCA made the right move and even suggested––though nothing has actually been confirmed yet––that he might actually end up going this time:
So-called comedian Michelle Wolf bombed so badly last year at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner that this year, for the first time in decades, they will have an author instead of a comedian. Good first step in comeback of a dying evening and tradition! Maybe I will go?
