Trump Tricked Into Unknowingly Retweeting Photo of Liberal UK Party Leader

Donald Trump has a well-established pattern of retweeting those supporting him online for his ideas and run for president. Unfortunately for him, there have been a few times when internet trolls took advantage of this and managed to prank the 2016 real estate mogul into retweeting something disingenuous, if not completely meant as trolling.

This is one of those times.

Earlier today, Trump retweeted a picture from a supposed supporter claiming the man to be his father, who would cast his first ever vote for Trump:

As it turns out, however, that was not the man’s father at all, nor was he even an American citizen. The man in the photo is Jeremy Corbyn, a U.K politician who was just today elected leader of the Labour Party.

The original tweet came from @HamishP95, whose Twitter bio describes him as a party member and “probably professional troll.” As you might expect, he was quite pleased with his success:

The last time Trump was duped on Twitter was when he received a supposed endorsement from the son of a Vietnam War veteran. The picture that was retweeted, however, was that of Jeffrey MacDonald, who killed his family in 1979.

UPDATE – 3:15 P.M. EST Trump’s goof did not go unnoticed by his latest 2016 rival critic, Bobby Jindal. The Louisiana governor has been hammering on Trump in the last few days, and he blasted Trump for not recognizing a major figure in international politics. He also included a picture of Vladimir Putin, wondering whether Trump will also get tricked into accepting his vote too:
