Trump Tweets a Clarification That Yes, He Disavows Ex-KKK Leader’s Endorsement
Donald Trump had to clarify on Twitter this afternoon that he disavows the endorsement of ex-KKK leader David Duke.
On CNN this morning, Jake Tapper repeatedly confronted Trump on whether he would disavow the Duke endorsement. Trump refused to give a straight answer, saying he hasn’t done enough research into the groups involved. (The group involved here is the KKK.)
Trump, understandably, got a lot of flak for that, including this tweet from Ted Cruz:
Really sad. @realDonaldTrump you're better than this. We should all agree, racism is wrong, KKK is abhorrent. https://t.co/dn2D74c5dl

Trump responded to the backlash by posting video of him from his Friday press conference saying he disavows it:
As I stated at the press conference on Friday regarding David Duke- I disavow. pic.twitter.com/OIXFKPUlz2

(Though if you want to get technical about it, Trump did basically go, “I disavow, okay?” like he only condemned an ex-leader of the KKK just so the reporter would get off his back.)
