Twitter is Perplexed After All Charges Against Jussie Smollett Are Dropped: ‘No, Seriously. What Actually Happened?’

People were in disbelief after it was revealed all criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped at the request of the prosecution.
A spokesperson for Smollett said his record will also be “fully expunged.”
After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett’s volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case,” Office of Cook County State’s Attorney said in a statement.
Observers on Twitter were left dumbfounded:

This is a total head-scratcher. After all that has transpired interesting to hear the prosecutor’s rationale for kicking a case that seemed very clear.

It’s hard to read this statement from Jussie Smollett’s attorneys and not get angry.
He lied to the county on national tv about a terrible hate crime, was dumb enough to pay with personal a check, gets all charges dropped, and *still* goes out and spikes the football.
Awful. https://t.co/o99KlHsIEs
