Two Belgian Police Officers Stabbed by Man Wielding Machete, Shouting ‘Allahu Akbar!’

Two police officers were stabbed by a man today who was wielding a machete and reportedly shouted, “Allahu Akbar!”

This is what the Charleroi Police posted to Twitter:

2 policières blessées par machette devant hôtel de police par auteur criant Allah Ouhakbar. Individu abattu mais vivant #PoliceCharleroi

— Police Charleroi (@PoliceCharleroi) August 6, 2016

That roughly translates to “2 police officers injured by machete in front of police station by someone shouting ‘Allahu Akbar.’ Individual shot but alive.”

Subsequently, however, they confirmed the attacked died:

According to CNN, both officers were cut deeply in their faces and one of them was brought to the hospital.

Belgian authorities have been on high alert since the Brussels attacks earlier this year, and there have been concerns about more ISIS threats.
